Husqvarna produce professional forest, park and garden products. Their site in Newton Aycliffe is known for producing robotic lawnmowers, that are distributed across the globe. The team at Husqvarna kindly sponsored our Celebration Event this year, alongside receiving their Continuing Excellence award. Read on to find out more about their journey on the award!

Why did you decide to sign up to the BHAWA?
Our journey with BHAWA began after the tragic loss of an employee who died by suicide in 2017. This deeply affected many people and sparked important conversations about mental health. At Husqvarna UK, we recognize that mental health is a fundamental aspect of everything we do.
Employee health and wellbeing are critical to our business success, and this initiative provided an opportunity to embed wellbeing into our company culture.
How do you find that the award benefits the organisation, and its employees?
The award provides numerous benefits, with one of the most valuable being the structured approach it offers. The criteria guides us in prioritising key areas while also incorporating valuable input from our workforce to ensure we focus on the aspects that matter most to them.
Participating in at least five campaigns also gives us flexibility to align with national initiatives. Additionally, it has allowed us to evaluate and enhance our support for employees, such as improving our benefits platform to offer financial savings and other wellbeing resources.
What kind of activities have you organised in line with the award so far?
Since launching the award, we have supported a diverse array of events, both within our organization and for the broader community. With an emphasis on health and well-being, these activities include:
Health, Safety & Environmental Week - Health & Wellbeing MOTs, slogan competition, sustainability talk, life-saving skills, Recipe of the Day and wellbeing sessions.
